Excitement Grows for Proposed Changes to Apprenticeships

altThe Apprenticeship Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Darren McDonell, and local host employer, Damien Mills from Downs Quality Constructions, have met with Assistant Minister for Education, Training and Employment, Saxon Rice, to discuss the recent $86 million Newman Government announcement to create an extra 10,000 apprentice commencements over the next six years. The new Further Education and Training Act, was recently passed in parliament and with these reforms and the State Government’s investment, The Apprenticeship Company will look to expand their apprenticeship and traineeship portfolio throughout Southern and South West Queensland, and northern New South Wales.

Meet The Apprenticeship Company's New Hospitality Field Officer

alt"I’m here to help mentor the apprentices and trainees in whatever they’ve decided to do and to help them realise their potential."

AFTER spending more than a decade working either as a teacher or in a managerial position in the hospitality industry, it’s no surprise Dan Simmonds is perfectly suited for his new position as hospitality field officer with The Apprenticeship Company. In a role that involves looking after all those undergoing training with the company, Mr Simmonds said what he’s most looking forward to is taking on new challenges and getting to know the apprentices and trainees. “I’m here to help mentor the apprentices and trainees in whatever they’ve decided to do and to help them realise their potential,” he said. “If they want to be a chef – I want to make sure they receive the training to be the best chef they can possibly be, or anything else for that matter.”
