Trainees Spring into Action

News Article from Thursday 8th March 2018

The beginning of Spring marks the beginning of our Certificate II Horticulture Trainees journey in their learning at Spring Bluff Historical Railway.

Here their trainer Spencer Rigby is discussing the project with his new students on site at Spring Bluff.

The trainees had just finished a site tour - becoming familiar with where they will be spending the next 12 weeks learning about all things Horticulture.

The students are being briefed on the project, so that they can apply the theory they are learning to a real life situation. Once the students have completed the theory and simulation activities, they will then get to use their new knowledge on an actual job out at Spring Bluff.

This program is aimed at providing local Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley residents who are interested in starting a career in Horticulture (or changing careers) with the qualification, real-world experience, skills, & employer exposure that they need to get a job in this growth industry. In this full time program, students will gain exposure working at the heritage listed Spring Bluff Railway Station; a site which has won multiple awards at Carnival of Flowers for its spectacular gardens and grounds.
