Course Description

This course will teach you how to: 

  • Identify hazards
  • Assess and control risk
  • Contribute to WHS in the workplace
  • Manage and consult on WHS issues
  • Build business relationships
  • Plan and implement emergency response procedures
  • Establish, review and evaluate WHS measures and initiatives

Course Requirements

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a strong level of computer literacy skills. 
  • Be able to navigate through web browsers.
  • Have the skills to compile electronic documents using software applications (word processing).
  • Be able to conduct research and present information.
  • If English is a second language, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. 

Have the ability to:

  • Read and comprehend information from a variety of sources
  • Communicate effectively with people at all organisational levels
  • Facilitate team discussions, make presentations and participate in meetings
  • Issue instructions in an authoritative manner during unusual circumstances
  • Carry out simple calculations and analyse data
  • Build relationships with stakeholders (both internal and external to an organisation)
  • Be confident in presenting information verbally
  • Desirable to have a Certificate III in Work Health and Safety (or previous experience equivalent to this).

  • BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS410 Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
  • BSBMGT403 Implement continuous improvement
  • BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • BSBRES401 Analyse and present research information
  • BSBWHS408 Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
  • BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents
  • BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
  • BSBWRT401 Write complex documents
  • BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41415, which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The qualification is issued by DGT (RTO 1719).

Course Details

Delivery option 1 - Online

  • Study at your own speed in your own time with support available from our team when you need it. 
  • Study from wherever you have access to a computer!
  • You have 12 months to complete your qualification.
  • Motivated students may finish quickly.

Delivery Option 2 - Classroom (Fast Track - Classroom Intensive)

  • 5 days intensive training and assessment - face-to-face with DGT trainers at our purpose built training facility at 56 Duhig Street.
  • Allow 10 hours per day (some days may run longer), plus some homework.
  • Get in, get it done and get certified.
