Downs Group Training’s 2013 All Trades Charity Golf Day, in aid of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation's Young People at Risk Program, held on Friday 5^th April was a big success.

Since inception, the charity golf day has raised over $60'000  for this valuable program. The Young People at Risk Program encourages young people who have identified as being at risk. These are young people suffering from mental health issues who don’t see a way out or forward.  The Young People at Risk program provides incentives for these young people to re-engage with life, themselves and the community. It provides some light for those who are constantly in the dark and in the care of the hospital in an attempt to give their life hope and meaning.

The team at The Apprenticeship Company would like to congratulate Benjamin Hoffmann and Jade Lomas-Ronan who took home awards at the 2012 Chinchilla State High School Awards Night. Benjamin Hoffmann won the 2012 School Based Apprentice of the Year Award. Ben is completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade and is Hosted to Agcare Engineering. Jade Lomas-Ronan won the 2012 School Based Trainee of the Year Award. Jade is completing a Certificate II in Hospitality and is Hosted to Chinchilla RSL.

The Apprenticeship Company, a division of Downs Group Training, will hold our annual Try-a-Trade day for over 100 students at Goondiwindi State High School on Tuesday 4th December 2012.  Students will undertake various trade activities including Carpentry, Painting & Decorating, Tiling and Horticulture.  

 The Apprenticeship Company staff: Angela Suhr, Bernie Buggie, Logan McShane, Chris Morgan, Mal Harders and Scott Walker will help over 100 students from Goondiwindi State High School to construct wooden planter boxes and pencil boxes, and decorate them with Painting & Tiling activities before planting seedlings in the planter boxes.

 The Try-a-Trade activities aim to show students a variety of possible career paths in a fun and interactive way.

The 2012 Downs Group Training Annual Awards Night was a huge success this year!
