School Based

How do School-based Apprenticeships & Traineeships work?
School-based apprenticeships & traineeships are generally available to students in year 10, 11 or 12. The student normally spends one or two days per week (minimum of 48 days per year) in the workplace, with the opportunity of also working after school hours, on weekends and school holidays. The student enters in to a legally binding training contract, with a set probationary period. Students have the option of certificate II or III level, if the student has not achieved competency on the completion of school, they are required to convert to part time or full time employment to complete their traineeship/apprenticeship.
What The Apprenticeship Company will do for you
- Employ you directly and place you with a host employer in order for you to undertake your apprenticeship or traineeship qualification
- Our qualified field officers will provide a high level of support by regularly monitoring you in the workplace to ensure you are provided with the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully complete your qualification
- Provide a full induction for apprentices and trainees, including an introduction to Workplace Health and Safety
- Arrange all on and off-the-job training
- The Apprenticeship Company is a division of Downs Group Training a not for profit community based company providing these services at no cost to apprentices, trainees or their parents
