An Overview of Our Company
In 2006 Downs Group Training launched The Apprenticeship Company a division of Downs Group Training to define its group training operations from its training operations. The new division is able to focus on DGT’s core business of recruitment, employment and pastoral care of apprentices and trainees while Downs Group Training expands its other services to the community.
Downs Group Training is a not for profit organisation, founded in 1987. The company is based in Toowoomba but services a wide geographical area. DGT actively encourages community interest in placement and future employer demand for apprentices and trainees, while striving to improve the performance of all employees through quality training.
Downs Group Training is a member of Group Training Australia Qld & NT Inc. Membership of this association ensures all training issues are conducted to national standards, giving the apprentice/trainee, parent/guardian and host employer peace of mind when dealing with our organisation.
Downs Group Training is the legal employer of the apprentice/trainee, so we shoulder all the industrial relations responsibilities. It also allows us to mediate in any problems that may occur throughout the contract.
Since 1987, Downs Group Training has built up an extensive network of host employers in a wide variety of industries. All host employers and Australian Apprentices are given a comprehensive induction explaining the requirements of an apprenticeship/traineeship before entering into a contract. This process eliminates problems through the apprenticeship/traineeship and increases the likelihood of the apprenticeship/traineeship continuing to successful completion.

All training is monitored to guarantee training providers are delivering all of the required training, ensuring apprentices/trainees receive only the highest quality training during their Australian Apprenticeship.
