Neil an Awards finalist!

News Article from Monday 5th June 2017

Our very own Neil Salcedo will vie for his place in history at this years Queensland Training Awards!

Training and Skills Minister Yvette D’Ath announced Neil’s name alongside all of the other finalists who will be vying for honours at the regional finals of this year’s Queensland Training Awards.

Neil is nominated in the “Equity VET Student of the Year” category which is sponsored by the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.

Neil recently completed his Certificate I in Construction as a Toowoomba Construction Skills Program Trainee. His dedication and training enthusiasm was clear whilst completing his practical training at Toowoomba Clubhouse. Neil was also the only trainee to offer to stay on a week after his training had completed to ensure the job was done to the best of his ability.

The Queensland Training Awards celebrate the state's top training achievers. With more than 800 nominations received in 2017, the panel of judges had the difficult task of selecting just 225 regional finalists.

These talented individuals and hard-working organisations have demonstrated the highest standards in vocational education and training in order to make it through both the nomination and judging processes.

Winners from regional finals may go onto represent Queensland at the Australian Training Awards in November.

Special mention to DGT’s other shortlisted nominees Lauren Bryant from Experience Travel and Sally Whiting from Downs Office Equipment who narrowly missed out on places as finalists at the upcoming Regional finals.

Congratulations and good luck to Neil and all of the other the finalists from the Darling Downs South West region. Finalists will compete for the top spot in their region at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Saturday 29 July 2017.

Stay tuned for updates on the results in late July.
